Walking above Sydney

Saturday October 7

With dialysis scheduled for this afternoon, our activities are limited to the morning. Time has to be reserved for lunch and train time. Fortunately, today’s activity is a mere two blocks from the hotel. We are heading to the tallest structure in town, the Sydney Tower.

From several miles away

As the pictures shows, the Tower is not really a building . It’s a construction atop a six story shopping complex, the Westfield Centre (Australian spelling), part of a worldwide conglomerate, including one in lower Manhattan

If you’ve been to the Empire State Building, or other similar skyscraper you know the general routine. Walk around an indoor walkway and play “can you see such and such?”, and then shoot pictures to prove you saw it. Here at the Sydney Tower, that is just the appetizer. When it’s your turn, you buckle up into a harness, put on a jump suit, and begin a walk around the exterior of the the tower, 269 meters up, out in the breezy fresh air.

This afternoon is dialysis session two. Tethered again but not as invigoration as this morning
